Just found out that my wife Candace is pregnant with our first child! She’s 5 weeks along and we’re both extremely happy and excited. Even with the challenge of the winery ahead of us, I think this is the perfect time to have a kid. We’re both still young (though I’m 4 years older and sporting a little gray) and she’s been talking about wanting kids since we first met at Davis. She’s going to be a fantastic mom.
According to the Doctor the early ultrasounds and chemical readings look good. Our “bean” has nestled in and made a nice comfortable home. It’s funny, watching her track her basal body temperature for the past few weeks it occurred to me that the parallels between pinot and baby-making are striking. Both involve measuring for optimum ripeness based on, among other things, temperature. After they’re born, both need careful raising (that’s elevage to you, Jacques).
And finally, good pinot and happy babies are both made in the vineyard. ; )

Well….that’s just awesome! Congratulations.
And congratulatiions on the new blog too. I’m looking forward to reading your posts often to watch the development. You’re in a great area of the RRV. I know it very well. True Pinot country.
Cheers,
Tom…
