Always Give 100% At Work

So here are a few lazy links to some interesting wine posts from around the web:

1. Global Wine Temps - By St. Zini @ The Zinquisition.

imagine what the changes in the environment will bring about for winemaking. Increased sunlight in some areas previously known for foggy/cloudy weather will change all those flavor precursors available, as well as tannins. And therefore more fruit protection will be required to keep the fruit from the flavors & aromas at the “over-ripe” end of the spectrum. Denser canopy management like that in Australia will become more of the “normâ€? to help keep the fruit from getting too sunburnt…

My commentary: Cool wine wheels…

2. Bordeaux chateaux: fair price or ‘profiteering’? By Panos Kakaviatos, and Oliver Styles @ Decanter.

‘The exaggerated ego of too many Bordeaux chateaux owners kills customer fidelity,’ wrote the importer. ‘How can you expect to maintain your customer base with such incomprehensible and illogical price increases? Come back to earth – your products are not the blood of Christ.’

My commentary: And here I thought Christ’s blood was free…

3. Marionberry Wine By Craig Camp @ Wine Camp

The only thing this could be is some sort of bizarre fruit wine (Marionberries?) as it is grotesquely purple and juicy-fruity to the point of being revolting with food. I tried meat, pizza, panini and pasta with this bottle and it is very clear the only thing this glop of a wine can go with is itself.

My Commentary: …Marion…Barry

  • “Bitch set me up.” — Marion Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC.
  • “First, it was not a strip bar, it was an erotic club. And second, what can I say? I’m a night owl.” — Marion Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

    and my favorite,

  • “If you take out the killings, Washington actually has a very very low crime rate.” — Marion Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC
