The Boys of Spring

He stops on by, the mitts come out
and the cowhide covered ball.
Behind the shed we throw and catch
and talk about it all.

He throws it hard, he knows it\’s fast,
he grins when it snaps and stings.
After twenty years my son and I
are still the boys of spring.
