Pinotblogger in the Wall Street Journal

Posted on Monday 23 October 2006

Just a quick note that Pinotblogger was mentioned in the Wall Street Journal today in their Blog Watch column. If you’re here from the WSJ, welcome!

I encourage you to start with the Our Story So Far page. There are a bunch of links off that page that chronicle the twists and turns of the past year.

WSJ editor Beckey Bright also mentioned the Top Ten Wine Myths post in her article, so feel free to have a look at that and the rest of the Cellar Worthy Posts found on the left hand side of the page.

This recent post outlines our latest online project: creating the first real winery and vineyard in Second Life. It’s something I’m very excited about. Work is just now beginning so check back often for updates.

Finally I invite you to subscribe to our RSS feed and join our inaugural vintage mailing list. You’ll be one of the first to taste our delicious Pinot upon release and be the beneficiary of all kinds of cool perks.

There is also one thing I should clarify: Capozzi is a Family Winery. Candace and I are half owners and Craig and Becky, my parents, own the better half. More importantly, they hold title to the vineyard. They humbly shun pretty much any mention of their names however. They’ll just have to deal with a mention this time I guess. By the way, Craig just celebrated his 50th birthday. Happy birthday, Pop.

And thanks for visiting!

Josh. So wonderfully excellent! It just goes to show that a websight willing to post articles regarding goat scrotums, better technological innovations, and with an eye towards a new community of wine-drinkers, can capture the attention of so many. I write from the strangely dissoriented city of Riems– a decentralization no doubt due to the many war wounds inflicted over the past century. It is also the city in which every French monarch was crowned (also perhaps fitting, though I am not quite sure how yet). I will be home in a month! (and I could not be more excited). I will toast you tonight with a glass of grower-champagne– a fitting product of what the new market allows small vineyard owners here; just as this website is a perfect example of what the modern wine market can offer to those interested in wine. Sante!

Thanks guys (and wife!). Very exciting for everyone involved with the winery and very flattering, especially given the quality of the other blogs mentioned.

[...] A couple of weeks ago we were fortunate enough to get a mention in the Wall Street Journal. It was certainly a very cool thing to have happen. Traffic to the site rose dramatically, for a few days. Some folks joined the mailing list and some others subscribed to our RSS feed. Many were exposed to our project that otherwise wouldn’t have; I could hardly complain. Yet predictably I suppose, soon after the paper and the online article hit, traffic quickly tapered off to former levels. After all, we don’t have any wine for sale (yet). [...]
