Right on Cathy!

I received a nice response today from Judith McKibben and it seems they are considering the idea, which is just fantastic. Your letter will only help.

And Greg, no need to worry, from what I understand the abstracts will be provided by the authors. :P I don't think ads will support your blog, but if it was good enough I can see two things happening: 1. You can charge me, at the very least, for access. 2. If you make them freely available, you will almost certainly become seen as the go to expert in popularizing wine research. This could easily lead to articles for trade mags, increased visibility for you personally and other excellent perks. IMO it would be an awesome niche to fill.

Thanks for the comments!

Josh,

Grad students have enough to do! Maybe another income stream for ASEV, as suggested by Dr. Bisson in the article, could be a trade pub of research reviews.

It seems hard to balance free, open access with a peer review process. For example, PLoS Biology, the open access journal, has a publication fee of $2750... to the author!

Maybe I will start a blog where I read AJEV articles and summarize them.... would ads support me?

Also, hello to Noble Pig... Cathy, I did not know you had a blog. After a year together in classes, I thought us bloggers would have united.

Well stated Josh. Linda Bisson is my old prof as well, love her. And yes I agree, so much more could be done that would add tremmendous value to what they have now. I am also going to construct a response to ASEV backing up many of your points made. Thanks for sharing your letter.
