Burnin’ and a Lootin’

Posted on Friday 27 June 2008

You know, I’ve been sitting here the past few weeks watching the housing market continue to go in the crapper, throwing doubt on our plans to break ground on the Winery next spring.

I’ve thought a lot about our options, creative financing and the general direction of the economy. It’s all pretty dull and really just so much ineffectual navel gazing.

But I’ve had an epiphany!

What I should be doing is setting fire to the nearest police car!

Dateline: MONTPELLIER, France

Winemakers in southern France have burned two police cars and vandalized supermarkets during protests to demand government aid.

Vintners in the Languedoc-Roussillon region have been protesting plummeting prices for their wines as well as rising fuel costs.

A regional official, Cyrille Schott, said that protesters broke windows at the courthouse in the city of Montpellier. In nearby Montagnac, protesters wielding baseball bats chased police officers from their vehicles and set the cars on fire, he added.

Interior Minister Michèle Alliot-Marie said the protesters had tried to burn a police car carrying six officers, the newspaper Le Figaro reported on its Web site.

That is called attempted homicide,” she said, adding that the authorities would investigate.

Come to think of it, a few sticks of properly placed dynamite could probably do wonders for all the unsold housing inventory in California. Imagine the possibilities!

Thanks for the inspiration southern France winemakers!

Building a winery is expensive, but the great thing now is building prices are coming down. You will be able to build cheaper today than you could a year or two ago. Next year, who knows!

Now the following wine prices, we have to stop that……..ASAP! LOL!

Yes, yes, yes!!! Slash and burn. Let’s pay twice for a perfectly good police station and police car. Josh, I’m sure, like me you have saved your stimulus check and are gaining interest as we
speak. This should help with the purchase of that shovel to break ground. Grimm times my friend. Maybe we can send word and gather the wine drinking faithful and lead the charge to
the capital and bend the ear of our trusty govenator. IMO, hide, wait out the storm and we will al be Ok???? Do I sound confused? I am?

Just let those poor french people use some oak alternatives and micro-ox and perhaps things would not be so grim……
